8th edition of the Embassy of India Seoul's annual flagship cultural event
Sarang Festival of India will be held from September 30 to October 14, 2022 in
offline mode at various locations across the country in the Republic of Korea.
The two-year hiatus was due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since 2015 SARANG has
emerged as a leading Indian cultural festival introducing the colorful and
diverse heritage of India.
The
word SARANG has a very meaningful interpretation for Koreans and Indians.
Sarang means love in Korean and to Indians it represents diversity representing
the different colors of India. The effort is to showcase India's rich cultural
diversity represented through various art forms including dance, drama, music,
film and cuisine. This depiction of India completely captures the hearts and
minds of the local community in Korea and strengthens the love and friendship
between the people of the two countries.
Since the year 2015, this festival is being organized every year with the participation of various local organizations. It aims to introduce Korean people to Indian dance, music, cinema, cuisine and art. We have largely succeeded in this pursuit and SARANG has now become a much-anticipated event in the Korean cultural calendar. Typically, it spans a month and travels through various cities in the Republic of Korea.
