Cheetah:

The last cheetah died in 1947 in Korea district of present day Chhattisgarh. It was formerly a part of Madhya Pradesh in India and this cheetah species was declared extinct in India in 1952. According to reports the leopard has lost 90 percent of its global habitat in the last 100 years. Additionally, of the 31 populations of the cheetah, only 100-200 remain, their habitat steadily declining. In 2009, the 'African Cheetah Introduction Project in India' was formulated.  The Cheetahs will board a customized Boeing 747-400 from Windhoek, Namibia's capital, after a 10-hour overnight journey and 8,000 kilometers to reach Gwalior. The felines are transported from Gwalior to Kuno National Park (KNP) in an Indian Air Force (IAF) Chinook heavy-lift helicopter. Cheetahs between the ages of four and six are not calm enough to travel. They are fed two-three days before the journey and three vets are on board.
