1. 37th edition of the National Games. Goa won the hosting rights for the National Games in 2008 but could not host the games due to various reasons. Goa was all set to host the 36th edition of the National Games but the IOA had to shift the venue to Gujarat due to agreeing to hold the event at short notice.

After some delays in 2018 and 2019 due to lack of infrastructure, the Games have been postponed to 2020. But due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the National Games had to be postponed again due to Goa government's inability to host. Event before December this year.

 

2. According to the Union Home Ministry's latest Demographic Sample Survey, the survey was brought out by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, Ministry of Home Affairs. It was conducted in 2020. The report was published late last month. The Statistical Report of the Sample Registration System (SRS) contains estimates of various population, fertility and mortality indices based on data collected through one of the world's largest population surveys involving a sample population of 8.4 million.

The state of Jharkhand is notorious for having the highest percentage of underage girls married off. In Jharkhand, the percentage of girls who get married before becoming a major is 5.8. The percentage of women married before the age of 18 is 1.9 nationally and ranges from 0.0 in Kerala to 5.8 in Jharkhand. According to the survey, child marriage is 7.3 percent in rural areas of Jharkhand and three percent in urban areas.

In West Bengal, about 54.9 percent of girls are married before the age of 21, compared to the national average of 29.5 percent in Jharkhand, at 54.6 percent.

 

3. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first phase of the “Mahakal Lok” corridor of the Mahakaleshwar Temple in the city of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. The initiative is said to enhance pilgrims' experiences and boost tourism in the region. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inspected the opening arrangements of Mahakal Lok.

The first phase of the 900 meter long corridor "Mahakal Lok" was officially inaugurated. However, 316 crores were spent on the construction of the corridor as part of the $856 million Mahakaleshwara Temple Corridor development project.

The old Rudrasagar lake, which has been revived as part of a development project around the historic Mahakaleshwar temple, disappears with Mahakal Lok. Two imposing gateways – Nandi Dwar and Pinaki Dwar – are built near the beginning of the corridor, which leads to the entrance of the temple and offers a scenic view along the way. A 108-pillared colonnade is constructed of artistically carved sandstone. Artisans and artisans, mainly from Rajasthan, Gujarat and Orissa, worked on the decorative pillars. Major attractions of Mahakal Lok include gushing fountains and a continuous panel of more than 50 murals depicting stories from the "Shiva Purana". The Mahakal path is lined with many religious sculptures depicting the life of Lord Shiva.

A mural along the corridor depicts stories from the Shiva Purana, including the act of creation, the birth of Ganesha, the story of Sati and Daksha, and others. Currently, the construction of the second phase of the corridor is underway. The holding capacity will increase and so will the temple complex.
